Mar 27th, 2012 | By Mike Schwartz | Category: Features, Front Page, Lead Article
The Tri-County Pink Ribbon Ride is a bicycle ride to benefit the Young Survival Coalition and all proceeds from this event will be donated to the YSC in the name of a local Tour de Pink cycling team. The Tour de Pink is the national event of which this local event is a part.
Young Survival Coalition (YSC) is the premier global organization dedicated to the critical issues unique to young women who are diagnosed with breast cancer. YSC offers resources, connections and outreach so women feel supported, empowered and hopeful.
The ride consists of 3 separate loops through the rolling hills and farm lands of Lebanon, Dauphin and Lancaster counties. Each loop is approximately 25 miles, giving cyclist a 25, 50 and 75 mile option for the day. All rides begin at the Lawn Fire Company’s parking lot.
For those who are not road cyclists, there is also an option to ride the Lebanon Rail Trail starting at Lawn Park. This route will travel east onto the tree covered trail through Mt. Gretna and into Cornwall for an 18 mile round trip ride. There is also an option to travel to the trail’s end in Lebanon City for a 25 mile round trip ride. All loops will have one rest stop with water, snacks and rest room facilities.
There is no formal registration fee schedule for this ride, and no online registration. This ride is being hosted by a Tour de Pink cycling team, and supported by food donations and family volunteers. Instead of a registration fee, a voluntary donation to YSC the day of the ride or by mail-in registration prior to the ride will be used to raise funds for the YSC. Participants are highly encouraged to mail-in a registration by June 16 if they are planning to ride–this will facilitate ride planning and assist in the accommodation of all riders. The event will be an 8 a.m. Show and Go start for road riders and a 10 a.m. start for trail riders. It is a Rain or Shine event.
