September 29, 2011— Over 40 students from Elizabethtown Area High School are taking part in a series of eight dance class workshops being run by professional dancer and choreographer Danny Aldous. Aldous, owner of e-Dance in Elizabethtown, worked with the students on the various skills associated with stage movement with a special emphasis on tap dance. Through his tutelage, Aldous is providing some early instruction on tap dance that the students will be able to apply to this year’s spring musical, 42nd Street. The musical is slated to run March 1, 2, and 3 in the high school auditorium.

Kevin Biddle, theater adviser for the school district, secured the funds to host the artist-in-residence program through the Elizabethtown Area Education Foundation’s educational classroom grant program. The foundation is a private, nonprofit organization that awards monies that enrich and enhance teaching and learning in the Elizabethtown Area School District. Since the grant program’s inception in February 2009, the Foundation has awarded over $40,000 to district staff for innovative programs. The classes will run every Wednesday and Friday night through November.
