Minivans–Hip and Sexy?

Jan 5th, 2011 | By | Category: Features

Well, maybe.

A recent NYT article stating that minivans are no longer uncool has the EJ staff really excited. For long the EJ staff have endured the scorn of fellow E-towners as they drove sedately on Market St in their Honda Odysseys, their radios discreetly set to NPR and trunks filled with recyclable Giant grocery bags containing organic carrots.

But those days are over! The minivan, now referred to as the Swagger Wagon, is the new king of the road. When the EJ staff drive to cover breaking news (always below the speed limit, however), they will be cynosure of all eyes. They will henceforth enjoy right of way in all cases, with hulking Expeditions and sleek Porsches alike hustling to get out of the way of the stately Odysseys. No more will the sight of a minivan elicit snickers and giggles, and when College Ave finally gets extended to Bainbridge St. (which we now learn is slated to occur in 2011. Or is it 2012? Well, definitely this decade) the first vehicle to travel on that stretch will be a minivan. The EJ staff is negotiating the arrangement with Jeff McCloud and the Etown Borough Council. Stay tuned.
