Elizabethtown Area High School To Honor Local VeteransOct 26th, 2010 | By Troy Portser | Category: Features
10:45 a.m., Thursday, November 11, 2010, at Elizabethtown Area High School, 600 East High Street, Elizabethtown, PA 17022
Elizabethtown Area High School will honor local veterans for their service to the country. Special invitees to be honored include parents of secondary students (grades-6-12) and representatives of the local Veterans of Foreign War and American Legion, as well as residents of the Masonic Village of Elizabethtown. Several high school students will take part in the ceremony by singing the national anthem, reading a tribute poem to the veterans, and detailing the history of Veterans Day. Other participants include Elizabethtown Borough Mayor Chuck Mummert and school district superintendent Dr. Amy Hodges Slamp.
As a way to promote civic involvement and appreciation of the liberties Americans have, Elizabethtown Area High School will salute local veterans for their service and sacrifice to the country. Elizabethtown’s commemoration involves not only parents of our students but also three community organizations as a way of demonstrating the many community members who have contributed to our communities through their service to our country.
