ELIZABETHTOWN, PA – Art and Ecology students worked together to create paper using the algae or duckweed present in Elizabethtown College’s Lake Placida. Students mixed the duckweed and cotton or abaca together, flipped the fibers onto a piece of felt and squeezed out additional water with a plant press to create a thick, speckled construction paper. The paper will be used by students to create an art project.

Students will install their collaborative piece at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 13 in the Lyet Gallery. The currently unnamed installation will be open through December and potentially extend to the beginning of the spring semester.

Another event sponsored by the art department, is a faculty art exhibition which highlights work from Fine Arts Studio and Art History Faculty members: Kristi Arnold, Jeff Bye, Daniel Burns, Linda Eberly, Milt Friedly, Jeff Geib, Katherine Hughes and Patricia Likos Ricci

This exhibition and the art reception, held at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 10 in the Hess Gallery at Elizabethtown College, takes place every two years.  The group exhibition will remain on display until Saturday, Dec. 10 at 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Weekdays and Weekends 1-5 p.m.
