EAHS March Students of the Month Named

March 26, 2015- Elizabethtown Area High School seniors Emily Swope and Dylon Orth were named the Elizabethtown Rotary Club’s Students of Month for March. Swope and Orth were honored for their high academic achievement and extensive involvement in school and community service activities. Swope, daughter of Brian and Mechele Swope of Elizabethtown, has excelled in the classroom earning membership into the prestigious National Honor Society. She has also earned underclassmen honors in fields of Chemistry, Biology, English, Earth Science, Health and Pre-Calculus. EAHS raises over $70,000 for Four Diamonds Fund

March 24, 2015- Elizabethtown Area High School raised a remarkable $70,037 at its annual Four Diamonds Mini-THON or 140% of its $50,000 goal. All proceeds from the 12-hour dance marathon benefit the Four Diamonds to conquer childhood cancer. Elizabethtown Area High School was proud to support this cause as the Four Diamonds story originated in Elizabethtown with a former student, Chris Millard, who battled childhood cancer while a student at Elizabethtown Area School District in the early 1970s. “I continue to be amazed at the dedication and commitment of the students in all of the fundraising,” said Michele Balliet, superintendent of[Read more...]

Gymnastics Classes              Gymnastic classes are available for girls and boys ages 6-12.  Beginner class is for anyone who has not taken gymnastics and would like to learn the basic skills.  Intermediate class is for older children and children who have some gymnastics experience.  Basic skills will be reviewed progressing to more advanced skills when the child is ready.  Program is on Thursdays, April 9-May 21 with Class A is for Beginners from 5:45-6:45 pm.  Class B for Intermediate from 6:45-7:45 pm.  Class C is for Advanced from 7:45-8:45 pm. Dinner this Sunday to raise money to help E-town’s homeless

From Chronicling Elizabethtown Over the past few weeks, I’ve seen some signs around town promoting a dinner this Sunday at 5 p.m. at Trellis Place on East High Street that will raise money to help homeless people in Elizabethtown. Now, you might think, “We don’t have people sleeping on the street, so we don’t have a problem with homeless people in Elizabethtown.”  But did you read this story? Kristof made a difference in the world as a reporter with the New York Times since 1984 and an op-ed columnist since 2001, he also is a two-time Pulitzer Prize winner for his coverage of Tiananmen Square and the genocide in Darfur. Five EAHS Students Take Part In District Orchestra Festival

March 18, 2015- Elizabethtown Area High School orchestra students Aaron Becker, Reuben Zeiset, Erin Marshall, Stacie Savoca and Ethan Schnieder recently joined nearly 100 other talented local student-musicians to form the 2015 Pennsylvania Music Educators Association District 7 Orchestra ensemble. Selection to the orchestra was highly competitive involving talented student musicians from schools located in central Pennsylvania (Adams, Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin, Lancaster, Lebanon, Perry and York counties). Of the 51 school districts involved, Elizabethtown brought the fifth most students to the festival. EAHS Students Perform at All-County Music Festival

March 18, 2015- Fourteen students from Elizabethtown Area High School perform at the 2015 Lancaster Lebanon Music Educators Association (LLMEA) All County Band Festival. The concert was held at Northern Lebanon High School under the direction of Dr. Huber Toney of Millersville University (wind ensemble) and Dr. N. Keith Wiley of Millersville University (symphonic band). E-town Student Places in MATHCOUNTS Competition

March 18, 2015— Elizabethtown Area Middle School eighth grader Alex Lutz placed third in the Lincoln Chapter MATHCOUNTS competition held at the last weekend in February. Lutz will now represent E-town at the MATHCOUNTS state championship to be held in Harrisburg on March 28. Lutz is the son of Eric and Angela Lutzof Elizabethtown. The Lincoln Chapter event featured 178 of the top middle school math students from 26 schools in Lancaster and York counties.
