Elizabethtown residents need to add phone numbers to ensure emergency notifications

During last months snowstorms, Elizabethtown residents received automated phone calls from the Swift911 service to announce a snow emergency and information related to impact the storms had on services such as trash removal. By and large, the system worked very well. Speaking from personal experience, I picked up the phone and heard the first message in its entirety. I was pleased to know that the message looped so that anyone could hear the whole thing. Now, the borough is asking all residents to make sure their phone numbers in the database are accurate. Cindy Foster is Elizabethtown’s New Assistant Borough Manager

Elizabethtown’s new assistant borough manager, Cindy Foster, comes to us from our neighbors in Middletown.  Cindy took a pay cut  from her Acting Borough Manger position at Middletown to work for Elizabethtown borough.  A better working environment and no community residency requirement made the move worth the pay-cut for Ms. Foster. Council passes 2010 budget with no tax increase

(Dec 19th 2009) Borough Council passed the 2010 budget on Dec. 17 with no tax increase. The vote was 4-2, after a prior motion to increase taxes by two-tenths of a mill resulted in a tie. Mayor Robert Brain, in his last meeting before leaving office, cast the deciding vote in opposition of raising taxes. The action means the borough has a budget of nearly $4.8 million for next year, just about $2,100 carried over from the current year.
