October 20, 2015- Students from Bainbridge Elementary School, with the help of the school’s PTO, recently celebrated Garden Day by cleaning, weeding and mulching the school’s science garden. The hands-on service learning project was connected to the school’s science curriculum on Life Cycles.

In addition to tending to the garden beds, the students learned the importance of caring for the garden on an annual basis, facts about the plants and explored the garden for critters and wildlife. Garden Day is celebrate twice a year at the school, once in the fall to prepare the area for the winter season and again in the spring to open the garden back up for the growing season.

The science garden was created with the help of the PTO to inspire students to explore the world in which they live through hands-on activities.
