February 9, 2015 (ELIZABETHTOWN, PA)- Thin Mints, Samoas, and Tagalongs might be the community’s favorites, but new Girl Scout Cookie varieties will be joining the iconic roster for the Girl Scout in the Heart of Pennsylvania’s (GSHPA) 2015 Girl Scout Cookie Program, which will run from Feb. 13- March 15.

Rah Rah Raisins will satisfy any cookie lovers’ cravings with plump raisins, whole grain oats and yummy yogurt chunks, while Toffee-tastic will offer customers with dietary restrictions a gluten-free treat.

While Girl Scouts will be introducing new cookies at their booths, they will also be celebrating Samoas 40th Birthday! Since 1975 more than 738 million packages of Samoas have been baked.

Thin Mints, Tagalongs, Samoas, Trefoils, Do-Si-Dos, Savannah Smiles and Rah Rah Raisins can be purchased for $4 a box at Girl Scout Cookie Booths. The gluten-free Toffee-tastic is available in limited quantities for $5 a box and will be sold while supplies last, which GSHPA suspects won’t be long due to their Girl Scouts’ exceptional business skills.

“When you crave your favorite Girl Scout cookies this season, remember that you are helping girls acquire business skills through their participation in the Girl Scout Cookie Program, which is the largest girl-led business in the world,” said GSHPA CEO Jane Ransom.

In addition to the new flavors, GSHPA implemented Digital Cookie, a new avenue for customers to purchase Girl Scout Cookies. The new platform will broaden and strengthen the 5 Skills (goal setting, decision making, money management, people skills, and business ethics) that Girl Scouts develop throughout the sale while introducing vital 21st Century lessons like online marketing and website customization.

Girl Scouts use the customer list that they’ve built over the years to send emails out with their Digital Cookie website link. Customers who don’t know a Girl Scout and don’t have access to Digital Cookie will be happy to know it is easier than ever to find a Girl Scout Cookie Booth near them.

Customers can punch their zip code into either Cookie Locator, a free mobile app for iPhone and Android users or by visiting Both the website and the mobile app will help customers find Cookie Booths based on their location.

All Girl Scouts will be able to benefit from the sweet success of the sale. The revenue earned from the Girl Scout Cookie Sale will stay in GSHPA’s 30-counties and will help keep participation in Girl Scouts affordable for all girls by helping to offset the costs of summer camp, troop activities, council-wide events and trips for girls.

In addition, troops will keep a portion of the proceeds and work together to decide how to use their funds.  Girl Scouts have been known to travel as far as Australia and Europe funded by their cookie proceeds and many community improvements have been a result of a successful sale.
