September 30, 2014- Elizabethtown Area High School’s student-run miniTHON committee will host its inaugural 5K costume run to benefit the Four Diamonds Fund at Penn State Children’s Hospital. The race will be held on Saturday, Nov. 1. Participants may choose to either walk or run in the 5K. Participants are reminded that the course is a cross country course, not a road course, and strollers and pets are not permitted on the course.

The race will begin at 10 a.m. Registration is $30 per person, ages 13 and over, and $20 ages 5-12. Check-in begins at 9 a.m. at Thompson Field at Elizabethtown Area High School, 600 East High Street, Elizabethtown. All registrations submitted by Oct. 17 include a t-shirt. More details, including registration forms, can be found at

The Four Diamonds Fund was created by Charles and Irma Millard in honor of their son Christopher, who attended Elizabethtown Area Middle School. During his battle with cancer, Christopher wrote a story of a knight who needed to collect four diamonds that represented traits needed to fight cancer: wisdom, courage, strength, and honesty. This story later went on to become the foundation for the Four Diamonds Fund.

Throughout the year, participating Elizabethtown Area High School students raise money and awareness to benefit children and their families struggling with pediatric cancer. Last year, the Elizabethtown Area High School’s miniTHON blew their $35,000 goal out of the water raising an astounding $54,000. This year, EAHS has set a goal of $50,000.

Don’t miss this opportunity to have fun while also supporting the Four Diamonds Fund at Penn State Children’s Hospital. Prizes will be awarded including a costume contest within age groups.
