Elizabethtown College Not Idle During Summer

Sep 9th, 2014 | By | Category: Features, Front Page

Although on-site classes are not offered in the summer at Elizabethtown College and most students return home, the campus is not idle. This past summer, over 30 groups came to Elizabethtown College’s campus for an event, meeting, camp, or conference. Starting in May and ending in August, these groups are hosted on campus by Elizabethtown College’s Special Events and Summer Programs (SESP) team.

SESP focuses on providing support for these groups by providing locations and services. There are various different event spaces and classrooms that are available during the summer. On-campus accommodations, such as catering, dining services, the campus bookstore, technology equipment and of course, the SESP staff is available. Each group coordinator is assigned a SESP staff contact to help plan the event. The entire staff is available to help make each event, camp, or conference a success. The SESP staff offers assistance around the clock for each group while on campus. Elizabethtown College senior, Anastasia Frees worked for SESP for the past three summers. “I thoroughly enjoyed planning conferences and events at Elizabethtown.”

Among the groups and events hosted on campus this past summer were swim teams, high school dance groups, weddings, church retreats, bike tours, tennis camps, music camps, soccer camps, cheerleading camps, track and field events, and many other overnight and day camps.

For more information on SESP or if you would like to plan an event, please contact Donna Browning at browningd@etown.edu or 717-361-1481. More information is available on the SESP website, http://www.etown.edu/offices/special-events/index.aspx.
