3^rd Annual Fall Festival

             Holiday fun for the whole family!  GEARS will be hosting the 3^rd  Annual Fall Festival on Saturday, October 27 from 10 am-4 pm at the Elizabethtown Fairgrounds. The Festival is a family-friendly event that features a fabulous array of entertainment, food, crafts, vendors and children’s activities including inflatable play areas, a haunted barn, a non-scary hayride and games.  Gym Bears and Gymnastics Classes

             GEARS is offering the following tumbling and gymnastics programs for children:

Gym Bears is available for girls and boys ages 3-5.  The program will help develop large and small motor skills in a fun learning environment while introducing the fundamentals of gymnastics.  There are two classes available on Thursdays from 10-10:45 am (Class A) and 5-5:45 pm (Class B).  Fee is $50 for GEARS members ($57 non-members).

Gymnastic classes are available for girls and boys ages 6-12.  Beginner class is for anyone who has not taken gymnastics and would like to learn the basic skills.  Intermediate class is for older children and children who have some gymnastics experience.  Basic skills will be reviewed progressing to more advanced skills when the child is ready.  Program is on Thursdays with Class A is for Beginners from 5:45-6:45 pm.  Class B for Intermediate from 6:45-7:45 pm.  Class C is for Advanced from 7:45-8:45 pm.  Fee is $55 for GEARS members ($62 non-members).

Program dates are Thursdays, September 6-October 11. Melanie Ernest, Kelli Snader & Cassie Ernest will instruct the program.  Doubles Volleyball Tournaments

             GEARS Recreation will host a Men’s and Women’s Doubles Volleyball Tournament on Saturday, October 27 at 8:30 am with divisions of Open, AA/A & BB.  Open division will receive cash awards for 1^st place and AA/A & BB division will receive volleyball merchandise.  Paid pre-registration is $60 per team and walk-in registration the day of the tournament is $80 per team.  Tournament will be held at the Elizabethtown Area High School gymnasiums, 600 East High Street, Elizabethtown.  To register or for more information, go online at GetintoGEARS.org or call GEARS at 367-0355.

GEARS 2-PERSON SCRAMBLE GOLF TOURNEY

             GEARS 16^th Annual 2-Person Scramble sponsored by Dr. Dale Treese, D.D.S. and Barry Krisko, Raymond James Financial Services, Inc. will take place on Friday, October 5 at the Fairview Golf Course, Quentin, PA.  The format is an 8 am shotgun start of 2-person scramble.  Entry fee is $85 per person.  Fee includes green fees, cart, steak dinner and prizes.  Proceeds from this event will benefit BEARS Youth Basketball Program.  To register or for more information, go online at GetintoGEARS.org or call GEARS at 367-0355.

Horseshoe Curve

             Take a train ride and enjoy the view to Altoona. From there you will our Boyer Candy Factory, Bake Mansion, Railroaders’’ Memorial Museum, and stop at Horseshoe Curve overlook. Lunch will be provided at the Casino Restaurant. Trip includes motorcoach transportation, train ride,

luncheon, all admissions, and guide service. Trip is on Saturday, October 20 with a 5:30 am departure time from the Elizabethtown Area Middle School Parking Lot.  Fee is $130/person ($137 GEARS non-member).
