Tennis Camp

          Tennis Camp will provide professional instruction combined with a positive environment that puts fun first. Lessons will be taught on serving, volleying, ground strokes and other key aspects of the game. A camp tournament will be held at the end of the week with prizes and awards. If you want to improve your game and have a ton of fun, this camp is for you! Camp will be taught by Shawn Newlin, PTR certified instructor, former #1 singles player at PSU Harrisburg and staff. Ages 6-14. Camp is Monday-Friday, August 13-17 from 6-8 pm at the Elizabethtown Area High School Tennis Courts.  Fee is $70 for GEARS members and $77 for non-members.

 GEARS Fall 2012 Sports Leagues

            GEARS is accepting teams for their Fall 2012 Sports Leagues.

The Fall Flag Football League is slated to play on Sunday afternoons, August 19 – late October.  Seven-person coed flag football league.  Non-contact throw, catch and flag pull league with an 8-game schedule and playoffs.  Minimum 1 female participating in the game.  Registration deadline is Friday, August 10.

The Coed Softball League will play on Monday-Friday nights from 6:30-9:30 pm, September 3-Early November.  Teams are guaranteed 10 games with top team making single elimination playoffs.  All games will be played at the Elizabethtown Community Park Softball Field.  Teams will play with at least 2 girls in the infield and 2 girls in the outfield.  Teams will alternate male and female batters in the line-up.  Registration deadline is Friday, August 24.

The Church Coed Sixes Volleyball League will play games on Monday nights, September 9-Late November, from 6:30-10:30 pm at the Elizabethtown BIC Gym.  It is a 10 match season with divisional playoffs and championships.  Coed teams must have 2 females on the court at all times.  This league is for individuals 16 years and older.  Deadline is Wednesday, August 29.

NEW!!!  The Coed Kickball League will play games on Saturday afternoons and/or Wednesday evenings, September 8-November 3 at the Elizabethtown Park Softball Field.  It is an 8 game season with playoffs and championship.  Coed teams must have 4 females of the 8-10 players.  Deadline is Wednesday, August 29.

GEARS 2-PERSON SCRAMBLE GOLF TOURNEY

            GEARS 16^th Annual 2-Person Scramble sponsored by Dr. Dale Treese, D.D.S. and Barry Krisko, Raymond James Financial Services, Inc. will take place on Friday, October 5 at the Fairview Golf Course, Quentin, PA.  The format is an 8 am shotgun start of 2-person scramble.  Entry fee is $85 per person.  Fee includes green fees, cart, steak dinner and prizes.  Proceeds from this event will benefit BEARS Youth Basketball Program.  To register or for more information, go online at GetintoGEARS.org or call GEARS at 367-0355.

 GEARS has put together a wide variety of programs and activities for all ages in its Fall 2012 Brochure.  GEARS members should receive a copy in their mailbox within the next few weeks!

Members can begin to register when they receive their brochure.  Registration is accepted online at GetintoGEARS, by phone (367-0355) or fax (367-4138) with a Visa, MasterCard, American Express or Discover card, by walk in or mail in at 600 East High Street, Elizabethtown, PA  17022.  Registration is on a first come, first served basis.  Some classes/programs fill quickly.  Don’t fall behind; sign up for GEARS classes!

 St. Michael’s & Tilghman Island

             “Crab Picken’ Tour!” Learn to pick crabs, make crab cakes, pocketbook rolls and other traditional Tilghman Island fare. There is also a 1 hour History/Nature Boat Cruise. After the crab luncheon, the trip travels to St. Michaels where there will be free time to shop and explore. Trip is on Saturday, September 15 with departure at 5:30 am.  The bus will leave from the Elizabethtown Area High School Parking Lot (600 East High Street, Elizabethtown).  Fee is $139/person for GEARS members and $146 for non-members.  To register or for an itinerary, call GEARS at 367-0355 or go online at GetintoGEARS.org.
