May 1st, 2012 | By Troy Portser | Category: Front Page, NewsMay 1, 2012— Elizabethtown Area High School’s Student Council invites senior citizens to put on their dancing shoes on Friday, May 11 for the club’s annual Senior Citizens Ball. The dance will be held in the high school cafeteria from 5:30 – 8:30 p.m. and all senior citizens are welcome to attend free of charge (registration not required).
The Senior Citizens Ball will include the roaring swing sounds from the high school’s jazz band under the direction of Steven Barraclough, great food, and the company of present-day students. The students are hosting the Ball as a way to honor our community’s elders and thank them for all their contributions to Elizabethtown and beyond.
According to student council member and event organizer Kara Martin, the students look forward the Senior Citizens Ball every year and it is a popular event amongst the student body. “We enjoy learning dance moves from the past, and teaching them more modern dances,” said Martin. “With Masonic Village being in the area, they greatly affect life and we love being able to give back.”
