October 31, 2011— A team of students from Elizabethtown Area Middle School recently collected over $1,119 for the American Red Cross’s food relief efforts in Lancaster County. The students raised the money by selling paper flowers for a wall display during homeroom and BEAR time at the school. The fundraising initiative, titled Growing a Garden of Caring, encouraged fellow students and faculty members to purchase flowers for $0.50. As part of the students’ class, they discussed the Red Cross and how the money will be used to benefit local flood victims. Coordinating the effort from the student level were Ryan Duh, Billy Markley, Cody Minnich, LJ Price, Briana Scheurich, Autumn Schmitt, Cory Stiffler, and Zana Yalch.
