Presenting the check from Masonic Village were Vicki Gillmore, executive director; Wils Kile, president of the Resident Association, and Walter Deprefontaine, president of the VGA Association. Receiving the ceremonial check on behalf of the foundation was Dr. Amy Hodges Slamp, superintendent of schools for the Elizabethtown Area School District and foundation board member. Accompanying Slamp was Debbie Smith, gifted teacher for the district and educational classroom grant recipient, along with two of her students, Austin Denlinger and Seth Hake.

The foundation’s educational classroom grant program was launch in February 2009. The funds from the Masonic Village are used to underwrite the grants each year. This is the third year in a row the Masonic Village at Elizabethtown has gifted the foundation $15,000.

The foundation’s mission is to secure funding and award monies to provide supplemental resources that will enrich and enhance teaching and learning in the Elizabethtown Area School District and help prepare students for the 21st century.
