June 3, 2011— Elizabethtown Area High School senior cheerleader Casey Marie Dinkel has been chosen to cheer for Pennsylvania at the 54th annual Big 33 football game. The prestigious all-star game will be played on June 18 at Hersheypark Stadium and pits players from the Commonwealth against all-stars from Ohio. Dinkel is one of only four cheerleaders from the Lancaster-Lebanon league selected to take part in the “super bowl” of high school football.
To be selected to the team, Dinkel was nominated by her coach Heather Jungfer. She then competed in tryouts earlier this year where she was judged in various categories including jumps, cheer, dance, tumbling, and stunts.
As part of her Big 33 experience, Dinkel will join the team of cheerleaders from across the state for a series of practices leading up to the game, which will be televised on PCN. In addition to cheering for Pennsylvania during the game, Dinkel will take part in a highly choreographed half-time routine.
Dinkel has over ten years of cheerleading experience. This past year, she was co-captain of the varsity cheerleading squad. She was also nominated as an all-American in 2010-2011. At Elizabethtown, Dinkel has earned six varsity letters.
Dinkel is the daughter of Paul and Nancy Dinkel of Elizabethtown.
