Faculty-Student Basketball Game Helps Local Families In Need
Feb 14th, 2011 | By Troy Portser | Category: Front Page, NewsMarch Madness Elizabethtown style will kick off Tuesday, March 1 when the Mill Road Elementary School faculty takes on a team of fourth and fifth graders in the school’s fifth annual staff-student basketball game. The game will be held in Elizabethtown Area High School’s Daubert Gymnasium with tip off scheduled for 7 p.m.
Sponsored by the school PTO, the proceeds from the event will help Mill Road families in need of food, clothing, or other basic needs. Last year’s event raised over $1,000 and is an annual school favorite that packs the house with screaming fans at the high school gym.
In addition to the friendly game of hoops, a contest will be held at halftime featuring four furry mascots shooting baskets with students. The winning student’s class will receive a prize. Raffle tickets will be sold the night of the event for a chance to win one of three gift baskets. This year’s baskets include the Baum’s Bologna Basket, the Hershey Bears Ticket Basket, and the Brandt’s Farm Supply Spring Starter Basket. The snack bar will be open for attendees to enjoy a hot dog and beverage. Doors will open at 6 p.m. and cost of admission is $3 for adults and $1 for students in grades K-12.
