EASD communication efforts recognized by PA School Boards Association

EASD_PSBA AwardsOctober 7, 2010— The Elizabethtown Area School District received three awards in the 41st Annual Educational Publications Contest sponsored by the Pennsylvania School Boards Association’s (PSBA). The district newsletter (Bear Tracks), annual report, and website each received the second honor, an award of honorable mention. PSBA received 45 entries statewide in the newsletter category with only 12 schools receiving honors. Elizabethtown Area was joined by Ephrata and Manheim Central as the only other schools in Lancaster County to be honored in this category. PSBA had 54 entries in the special publications area (annual report) and only 18 earned awards. Elizabethtown Area was the only local school in this category to receive an award. In the website category, PSBA had 21 entries. Nine schools won awards and E-town was the only school from Lancaster county to be honored. This is the third year in a row the district has earned multiple awards for its communication efforts. Publications were honored not only on appearance, but also for content, value to community, editing, and message among other things. Troy Portser, Director of School and Community Information for the district, oversees the District’s communication initiatives.
