Orange Street Neighborhood

Aug 21st, 2010 | By | Category: Features, Front Page

This is the first in a series of photo essays profiling small neighborhoods in the Elizabethtown community.

Let’s take a walk up Orange Street. Orange Street extends from the main gates of Elizabethtown College on Mt. Joy Street to Market Street, a distance of about four city blocks. It is a quiet street that is wholly residential. Neighbors often socialize and can be seen taking an evening stroll or walking their dogs in the neighborhood. When strong geographic and physical barriers are absent, neighborhoods can blend with one another. The Orange Street neighborhood blends with College Avenue and streets to the north and streets to the south up to Groff Avenue. The college provides a barrier to the east and Market street to the west. The first physical barrier encountered to the north is the community park.
