EAHS student wins award in NASA Langley art contest

March 27, 2018- Elizabethtown Area High School tenth grader Veronica Mautner received an honorable mention at the tenth grade level for her art submission into the 2018 NASA Langley Student Art Contest. Mautner was the only student from Pennsylvania to receive an award in the prestigious national competition. A panel of five highly qualified judges from the art community selected the work they felt best represented this year’s theme, The Next 100 Years. Each piece was evaluated on originality, interpretation of subject matter/theme, creative techniques, composition, and overall art appearance. EAHS Band to Perform Spring Concert

  March 25, 2018- The Elizabethtown Area High School band will perform its annual spring concert on Thursday, April 12 at 7 p.m. The program will be held in the high school auditorium and is open to the public free of charge. Performing on this evening of music will be the high school’s concert band and jazz band. The repertoire for the concert includes traditional and contemporary jazz band and concert band repertoire. The band is directed by Steven Barraclough and student conductors Scyla Crozier, Carissa Warren, and Jared Wolf.

Recent remarks by a member of the Elizabethtown school board have led to some agitation among the crack staff of EJ. Keen observers of the local education scene will recall that Mr. Menno Riggleman, in an interview with the school newspaper, observed that the curriculum on evolution was outdated. EASD Students Perform at All-County Orchestra Festival

  March 22, 2018- Nine students from Elizabethtown Area High School performed at the 2018 Lancaster-Lebanon Music Educators Association (LLMEA) All County Orchestra Festival. Senior Carissa Warren (horn), juniors Sean Brown (violin), Lexis Ferree (violin), Ryan Minnich (violin) and Mayelin Ebersole (viola), sophomores Claire Fritz (violin), Vicky Chan (violin), Sam Becker (string bass) and Ethan Lown (string bass) joined more than 100 other talented student musicians from central Pennsylvania at the all-star festival. EAHS Student Performs at Prestigious Band Festival

  March 20, 2018- Elizabethtown Area School District band students Lauren Swope (clarinet) and Jared Wolf (saxophone) took part in the 2018 Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA) Region 5 Band Festival held at Middletown Area High School in February. Swope and Wolf, both in eleventh grade, were selected to the prestigious student ensemble based on their auditions at the District 7 music festival held in January. Selection to the Region 5 band is highly competitive and very prestigious. EAHS students sing at District Choral Concert

March 20, 2018- Three choral students from Elizabethtown Area High School were selected to the highly competitive Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA) District 7 chorus. A team of judges comprised of local music teachers chose the talented vocal students from area high schools to be a part of the ensemble. EAHS inducts 60 students into its National Honor Society

March 20, 2018- Elizabethtown Area High School inducted 60 students into its T.H. Ebersole Chapter of the National Honor Society (NHS) at a special ceremony held Thursday, March 15. Membership in the National Honor Society is one of the highest honors that can be awarded to a high school student. It recognizes the outstanding students of Elizabethtown Area High School who have exhibited the four pillars of scholarship, character, leadership and service.
