Senior Center activities wek of Februrary 22

EAHS To Present The Musical Comedy Whodunnit CURTAINS March 8, 9 and 10

February 14, 2018- Elizabethtown Area High School will present the musical comedy whodunnit CURTAINS on March 8, 9, and 10 at 7 p.m. in the high school auditorium. There will also be a 1 p.m. matinee on March 10. The doors will open thirty-minutes before each performance. A hilarious journey for both performers and the audience, the original Broadway production garnered eight nominations at the 2007 Tony Awards including Best Musical. Seventh grader Alaina Hellein Wins EAMS Spelling Bee

February 14, 2018- Elizabethtown Area Middle School recently held its 2018 spelling bee. The winner of the Bee was seventh grader Alaina Hellein. Hellein took home the victory by correctly spelling the word “conspicuous.” The bee was open to middle school students and was based on grade-level words determined by the Scripps National Spelling Bee. Eighth grader Mason Flowers placed second. In addition to Hellein and Flowers, seventh graders Isabel Boyer and Emma Creason placed in the top four and will attempt to qualify for Lancaster Newspaper’s regional spelling bee to be held later this spring. EAMS students take home awards at Future City competition

  February 12, 2018- Nineteen students from Elizabethtown Area Middle School recently took part in the 2018 Future City Competition in mid-January. This project-based learning program challenged students to imagine, research, design, and build cities that could exist 100 years in the future.  The Future City Competition was held at the state museum in Harrisburg. Using the engineering design process and project management skills, students worked in teams to ask and answer an authentic, real-world question. EAMS students take part in local Band Fest

February 12, 2018- Nine Elizabethtown Area Middle School band students recently took part in the 2018 Lebanon Valley College Middle School band festival. The students, all seventh graders, were selected based on their teacher’s recommendation for demonstrating outstanding musicianship.  The students were Kathryn Barraclough, flute; Emma Creason, clarinet; Elyse Hayden, flute; Carrisa Horst, flute; Elizabeth Kerin, flute; Rene Oltmans, flute; Elijah Miller, percussion; Kyle Valentine, trombone; and Mark Walter, trombone. The festival was held on the campus of Lebanon Valley College on Jan. 11 and was sponsored by the Lebanon Valley College chapter of the National Association on Music Educators. [Read more...]

Elizabethtown Heroes vs Legends Join us for the 6th Annual Heroes vs Legends benefit basketball game. Players will include EASD faculty members and coaches, former E-town Bear and Blue Jay basketball stars and other local community members. The night will include audience participation, give aways, contests and an entertaining basketball game. Game is on Friday, February 23 with a 7 pm tip-off time in the Elizabethtown Area High School Daubert Gym. Proceeds will benefit EAHS miniTHON and Camp Ladybug. Ticket is $5/person. EAHS to hold Winter Athletic Recognition Day (DATE CHANGE)

Heroes vs Legends Basketball

February 5, 2018- The Elizabethtown Area School District and GEARS are teaming up to support EAHS’s Mini-THON campaign and GEARS Camp Ladybug with the seventh annual “Heroes vs. Legends” charity basketball game. Now in its seventh year, the charity game has netted over $8,000 for local programs. This year’s contest is scheduled for Friday, Feb. 23 at 7 p.m. in Daubert Gymnasium (Elizabethtown Area High School).
