Andy Breault Named Elizabethtown Area High School’s Next Head Football Coach

February 27, 2018- Former Elizabethtown Area High School football star Andy Breault is returning to the program as the new head football coach. The Elizabethtown Area School District’s board of school directors approved Breault for the position at its Feb. 27 action meeting. He replaces Bill McDonald who resigned at the end of this past season. Breault has spent the last fourteen years serving as an assistant coach for the Bears. He has held roles in all three phases of the game including offensive coordinator, defensive coordinator, and special teams coordinator. EAHS Students Named to Prestigious District Orchestra

  February 27, 2018- Three students from Elizabethtown Area High School performed at the prestigious 2018 Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA) District 7 Orchestra Festival. Eleventh graders Sean Brown (violin), Lexis Ferree (violin) and Mayelin Ebersole (viola) joined more than 100 other talented student musicians from central Pennsylvania at the all-star festival. Dr. Justin Lewis from the United States Air Force was the guest conductor for the ensemble. The concert was held at Cedar Cliff High School. Economic inequality lecture at Brethern Church

The Elizabethtown College is sponsoring a talk on Wednesday February 28 at the Elizabethtown Church of the Brethren.  Tim Wise will discuss economic inequality in the United States and challenges the notion that a “culture of poverty” is to blame for generational inequality in the nation. Instead, Wise asserts that certain social structures prevent economic sufficiency and has or is leading to the creation of a permanent underclass in America. EAHS students earn awards in local art contests

February 23, 2018- Award-winners for the 2018 Lancaster County Regional Competition of the Scholastic Writing Awards program were recently announced and Elizabethtown Area High School sophomore Mackenzie Smith was honored for her entries. As such, Smith’s work will be exhibited along with other talented county students at both the Lancaster Museum of Art and the Demuth Museum Mar. 3 through Apr. 15. Smith was awarded two Honorable Mentions, one in the Drawing category and the other in the Illustration category. EAMS’s Ashley Geesey named Pennsylvania’s 2018 Top Youth Volunteer

 February 23, 2018- Elizabethtown Area Middle School eight grader Ashley Geesey has been named Pennsylvania’s top youth volunteer at the middle level by The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards, a nationwide program honoring young people for outstanding acts of volunteerism. As the Commonwealth’s 2018 middle school award-winner, Geesey will receive $1,000, an engraved silver medallion, and an all-expense-paid trip in late April to Washington, D.C., where she will join the winners at both the high school and middle school levels from each state and the District of Columbia. Seventh grader Alaina Hellein Wins EAMS Spelling Bee

February 14, 2018- Elizabethtown Area Middle School recently held its 2018 spelling bee. The winner of the Bee was seventh grader Alaina Hellein. Hellein took home the victory by correctly spelling the word “conspicuous.” The bee was open to middle school students and was based on grade-level words determined by the Scripps National Spelling Bee. Eighth grader Mason Flowers placed second. In addition to Hellein and Flowers, seventh graders Isabel Boyer and Emma Creason placed in the top four and will attempt to qualify for Lancaster Newspaper’s regional spelling bee to be held later this spring.
