Pistol course

The Conewago Rod and Gun Club will conduct a Basic Pistol Course on Sunday, September 17, 2017 at the organization’s clubhouse, 1483 Turnpike Road Elizabethtown. The Basic Pistol Course is designed for individuals who have limited or no experience with a handgun. The eight-hour course will teach beginning shooters the fundamental skills needed to own and use a handgun safely and responsibly. It will include instruction in the classroom and on the pistol range. The course will be conducted by NRA-certified pistol instructors.  Minors are welcome when accompanied by parent or guardian. Heartsaver CPR American Heart Association course for anyone with limited or no medical training who needs a course completion card for their job, regulatory or other requirements. Course also meets OSHA requirements. Students receive a course completion card that is valid for 2 years. Ages 14+. Class will meet Tuesday, September 12 from 6-8 pm at the Elizabethtown Area Middle School Recreation Room #2 (600 East High Street, Elizabethtown). Elementary Instrumental Music Family Night at EASD

  August 23, 2017- Elizabethtown Area School District will hold its annual Elementary Instrumental Music Family Night on Tuesday, Sept. 5, from 6:30-8 p.m. at the Bear Creek School. This special evening is for families with children in grades 4 through 6 who have an interest in signing up for the school’s band or orchestra program.   Discover Dance   Class is designed to encourage younger children in a fun way to express themselves through creative movement and ballet. Dancers will develop body awareness, gross motor skills, rhythm and flexibility. Class is on Monday, Sept 11-Oct 16, from 5:45-6:30 pm for ages 3-4 and from 6:30-7:15 pm for ages 5-6. Dr. Jason Potts approved as assistant principal of Elizabethtown Area High School

August 9, 2017- The Elizabethtown Area School District Board of Education unanimously approved Dr. Jason Potts as an assistant principal at Elizabethtown Area High School. Dr. Potts replaces Dr. Lyn Shaffer who accepted a position with the Cumberland Valley School District. Dr. Potts was hired following an extensive search and interview process. The interview team was comprised of district and school administrators, teachers, and school board members. Dr. Potts has more than 16 years in education, the last two as an assistant principal at the SciTech campus of John Harris High School in Harrisburg.
