EAHS earns birth into state Science Olympiad

April 27, 2017- Elizabethtown Area High School’s Science Olympiad Team recently competed in the regional Science Olympiad tournament held at Millersville University. The team took part in 23 total events in the areas of biology, chemistry, engineering, environmental science, physics, and science writing. The team earned a birth in the state tournament by placing fifth out of a field of 36 high school teams from Adams, Centre, Clearfield, Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin, Huntingdon, Juniata, Lancaster, Lebanon, Mifflin, Perry, Snyder, Union and York counties. Elizabethtown College Crime Spree at Lake Placida

Chris Hayes of MSNBC is the author of a recently published book, A Colony in a Nation. The book artfully tells the story of the colonial status of  people of color and the role of the police in maintaining and defining that status. EAHS students place second at state-wide SkillsUSA competition

April 26, 2017- A team of students from Elizabethtown Area High School captured the silver medal in the state-wide SkillsUSA Health Knowledge Bowl held April 19-21 in Hershey. Competing in the Healthcare category, the award-winning students were seniors Emma Leaman, Mallory Gish, Amber Hershey, and Jacey Kauffman. The team qualified to compete at the state level based on their first place finish at the regional level in January. The competition tested the knowledge of contestants preparing for employment in the health occupation field. E-town cheerleaders selected to Big 33 football classic

April 25, 2017- Elizabethtown Area High School senior cheerleaders Morgan Walters and Taylor Zerphey have been chosen to cheer for Pennsylvania at the 60th annual Big 33 football game. The prestigious all-star game will be played on June 17 at Speed Ebersole Stadium in Harrisburg and pits players from the Commonwealth against all-stars from Maryland. To be selected to the team, Walters and Zerphey were first nominated by her coach. Each then competed in tryouts earlier this year for one of only 68 spots on the squad. EASD Announces Third Marking Period Honor Roll

April 25, 2017- Dr. Nate Frank, principal of Elizabethtown Area Middle School, and Michael Pericci, assistant principal of Elizabethtown Area Middle School, announced the honor roll for the third marking period of the 2016-2017 school year. For students to achieve honor roll they are required to attain a 92% average overall with no grade lower than 83% in any subject area. A total of 206 students made the honor roll this marking period, which equates to roughly 32% of the student body in grades 7-8 having a GPA at or above 92%. BEARS Basketball Program BEARS Boys Basketball Clinic is for players who want to further their skills through drill work and games. Coaches will emphasize a fun atmosphere while building players skills and confidence on the court. Fundamentals of dribbling, passing and shooting will be the focus. Grades 4-6. Bainbridge Elementary to hold community celebration

April 21, 2017- Bainbridge Elementary School will hold a Community Celebration on Wednesday, May 31 from 6-8 p.m. The program will honor and celebrate the 83-year history of the school ahead of the major renovation project set to begin in June that will transform the building into a 21st-century learning center. The commemoration is free and open to the community and will allow former and current students, faculty, administrators, staff, and the community-at-large to walk the school for a final time before the construction work begins.   April 19, 2017- Elizabethtown Area High School seniors Kaitlyn Welch and Tyler Rae were named the Elizabethtown Rotary Club’s students of month for April. Welch and Rae were honored for their high academic achievement and extensive involvement in school and community service activities. Welch is the daughter of James and Tracey Welch of Elizabethtown. She is a member of the prestigious National Honor Society where she serves as treasurer. Welch also holds leadership positions in numerous other school activities. Elizabethtown Borough Announces 14th Annual Arts in the Park Event

Elizabethtown, PA – The 14th Annual Arts in the Park celebration will be held on Saturday, May 13, 2017 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.  The event will be held in Community Park in the heart of Elizabethtown. The event is held outside, rain or shine.  The popular children’s area will offer free activities for kids of all ages. Over 30 arts and craft vendors will participate and musical entertainment will be provided throughout the day.
