Senior Center Holds Bazaar

The Elizabethtown Area Senior Center will hold their annual bazaar on Saturday, November 19 from 7am-1pm. The Bazaar includes clothing, attic treasures, handmade items, a bake sale, homemade candies, books and raffle items.  The Bazaar will also feature an All-You-Can-Eat pancake breakfast: pancakes, sausage, eggs, & beverages, sponsored by the Conoy Lions Club. Breakfast is served from 7am-11am. The Senior Center is located in the GEARS Community Center at 70 S. Poplar St. Elizabethtown. Please call the center for information at 367-7984.

Area seniors are invited to participate in any of the following programs held at the Elizabethtown Area Senior Center.  The Senior Center is located in the GEARS Community Center, Elizabethtown and is open Monday through Friday.  Call the center for more information about the activities or to make reservations at 367-7984.  The Elizabethtown Area Senior Center is a service of GEARS and the Lancaster County Office of Aging. Lewis Walker discusses Shakespeare, Chivalry in First Folio celebration at Elizabethtown College 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 11 The idea of chivalry is a widely debated subject. Is it dead, or is it alive and flourishing?  Lewis Walker, professor of English at the University of North Carolina Wilmington, presents ideas on chivalry and Shakespeare at 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 11, at Bowers Writers House at Elizabethtown College. Walker researches Shakespeare and his controversial appropriation of literary authors and other cultural material. Rheems third graders bring Halloween cheer to local senior citizens

October 28, 2016- Rheems Elementary School third graders brought Halloween spirit and their favorite storybook characters to life as they paid a visit to the senior citizens at the Rheems Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. While at the center, the students paraded through the facility dressed in their storybook costumes giving Halloween greetings. The students joined the residents in a small gathering space where they sang songs to the seniors’ delight. In addition, each student introduced himself or herself and who he or she was dressed as. Top 15 Finish at F1 in Schools World Finals for EAHS’s Taurus Racing

  October 27, 2016- Taurus Racing from Elizabethtown Area High School went head to head against 38 other teams from 23 countries at the F1 in Schools World Finals. Taurus Racing placed fifteenth overall. Taurus Racing also had the sixth fastest car and was nominated for the “Women in Motorsports” and “Chair of Judges Recognition of Achievement” awards. They were also the top ranked American team. Taurus Racing is made up of junior Gage Schatz, sophomores Luke Snyder and Logan Vogelsong and freshman Michael Perrin. Elizabethtown College continues Shakespeare’s First Folio-related events

ELIZABETHTOWN, PA –  In conjunction with Elizabethtown College’s First Folio! The Book That Gave Us Shakespeare exhibition taking place from Nov. 10 through Dec. 4, the College’s High Library presents a variety of Shakespeare-related events through November and December. All events are free; some require registration. At 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, and 9 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, the College sponsors “A Family Fun Shakespear-ience” at Elizabethtown Public Library. EAHS October students of the month named

November 1, 2016- Elizabethtown Area High School seniors Aparna Paul and Solomon Heisey were named the Elizabethtown Rotary Club’s students of month for October. Paul and Heisey were honored for their high academic achievement and extensive involvement in school and community service activities. Paul is the daughter of Sanjay and Zahira Paul of Elizabethtown. She is a member of the prestigious National Honor Society and has been named a 2016 National Merit Scholarship semifinalist.
