Senior Center activities week of August 4

Thursday, August 4: 8:30-9:30am walking, 9am Sewing, 9:30am Morning Stretch, 10:30am Music w/Bonnie and Kids, 12:30 Pinochle, 1pm Bridge. Lunch will be: chef salad, beets, fruit, gelatin. Friday, August 5:  8:30-9:30am walking, 10am Bible Study, 11am Olympic Activities, 1:30pm Car Wash, 5pm TGIF Dinner and Pinochle Party.  Lunch will be: fish, mac and cheese, stewed tomatoes, salad, fruit. EAH’s Megan Polites Selected for Mini-THON Student Leadership Council

July 20, 2016- Elizabethtown Area High School senior Megan Polites has been selected to the 2016-2017 Mini-THON Student Leadership Council. The Mini-THON Student Leadership Council, comprised of a select group of student leaders, provides feedback and input to the Four Diamonds staff on the Mini-THON program. Polites is the first student from EAHS to serve in this prestigious capacity Modeled after Penn State University’s THON initiative, Mini-THONs are fun-filled events sponsored by schools all across the Commonwealth and surrounding states to raise money for pediatric cancer research. Area seniors are invited to participate in any of the following programs held at the Elizabethtown Area Senior Center.  The Senior Center is located in the GEARS Community Center, Elizabethtown and is open Monday through Friday.  Call the center for more information about the activities or to make reservations at 367-7984.  The Elizabethtown Area Senior Center is a service of GEARS and the Lancaster County Office of Aging. Pigs love to wallow in mud. In Pennsylvania, members of Pennsylvania’s political and legal establishments seem to relish wading into cesspools of corruption. Nine years ago, in Pennsylvania, Democrats were charged with “illegal use of government funds for political purposes.” Former House Speaker Bill DeWeese and Democratic Whip Mike Veon went to jail for their starring roles in Bonusgate. (1) Republicans were not to be outdone. Backpack giveaway

  Elizabethtown, Pa. (July 5, 2016) – Deserving young students in Elizabethtown will soon benefit from a national backpack giveaway campaign. TCC, the largest Verizon Authorized Retailer in the U.S., announces today that A Wireless is partnering with the company and its Culture of Good to donate 235,000 backpacks full of school supplies to children through TCC’s annual School Rocks Backpack Giveaway. Local veteran among those installed as Veterans of Foreign Wars state leader

  The Pennsylvania Department of Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) recently installed its officers for the 2016-17 program year during the organization’s State Convention in Lake Harmony. These line officers will provide leadership and direction for the PA VFW, which is the largest state VFW organization in the country boasting 83,000 members and 440 local posts. Swarthmore resident Thomas A. Brown was elected State Commander of the Pennsylvania Department of Veterans of Foreign Wars. A member of VFW Post 928 in Folsom, Brown earned his VFW eligibility through service in the U.S. Navy and Navy Reserve from 1950-56 and 1957-67[Read more...]
