Senior Center activities week of July 7

Area seniors are invited to participate in any of the following programs held at the Elizabethtown Area Senior Center.  The Senior Center is located in the GEARS Community Center, Elizabethtown and is open Monday through Friday.  Call the center for more information about the activities or to make reservations at 367-7984.  The Elizabethtown Area Senior Center is a service of GEARS and the Lancaster County Office of Aging. Elizabethtown Area High School seniors honored at awards banquet

June 9, 2016- Elizabethtown Area High School held its annual senior awards banquet for the Class of 2016 on Wednesday, May 26 at Elizabethtown Area High School. At the ceremony, 69 members of the senior class were honored with 70 scholarships and awards. Londonderry Township to Celebrate Independence Day with Fireworks, The Whiskey Brothers Band & The New Holland Band

Londonderry Twp. (June 17, 2016) -  On Saturday, July 2, 2016 Londonderry Township will present the 8th Annual “Stars & Stripes Salute” at Sunset Park with the festivities getting underway at 7:00pm. Admission and parking is free. Donations will be accepted that evening with 100% of the donations collected and 25% of the proceeds from the Williams Concessions going to support the Lebanon VA Medical Center. It’ summer.  It’s VBS time.  For the unwashed VBS is short for vacation bible school.  This has motivated the editors of EJ to resurrect a previously published article (Oct. 2011) that tells a tale of how church advocates may stealthfully garner government support for church agendas and evangelism.  This comes on the heels of a program in Pennsylvania (and some other states) that allows corporations and non-profits to receive a 90 percent tax credit on scholarships for students to attend private schools.  Most scholarships go to church-affiliated schools.  The program is designed to allocate government money to parochial schools through[Read more...]



Our Free Library Opens at Elizabethtown Schools

June 8, 2016- This spring, Elizabethtown Area Schools launched its Our Free Library program throughout the school district. Modeled after the national Little Free Libraries initiative, the Our Free Library program is a community book exchange utilizes the “take-a-book, leave-a-book” concept popular in coffee shops and public spaces. Libraries, which were made by the high school’s technology education department and fashioned in the form of a home mailbox, were erected at all seven of the district’s schools. East High Street elementary students pay tribute to America’s heroes

June 8, 2016- First Graders at East High recently welcomed over 100 Heroes to their “Hooray for Heroes” program. The students learned about three famous American women from history. The children read biographies for Amelia Earhart, Helen Keller, and Ruby Bridges. Each student created a project and retold the story of these heroes. The children shared their efforts by reading, singing, and using sign language during the first part of the program on Thursday.
