EAHS High School Students Compete at National History Day State Competition at Millersville University

May 26, 2016- Elizabethtown Area High School juniors Aparna Paul and Katy Shenk recently represented Elizabethtown Area School District at the National History Day State Competition at Millersville University. Shenk’s placed in the top five of student historical exhibit projects within the entire state of Pennsylvania. She will now be on call as one of two alternates for the National History Day competition at the University of Maryland in June should one of the two selected finalists not be able to attend. Area seniors are invited to participate in any of the following programs held at the Elizabethtown Area Senior Center.  The Senior Center is located in the GEARS Community Center, Elizabethtown and is open Monday through Friday.  Call the center for more information about the activities or to make reservations at 367-7984. The Elizabethtown Area Senior Center is a service of GEARS and the Lancaster County Office of Aging. Students host local officials as part of Town Hall Series

May 24, 2016- Elizabethtown Area High School students got a personalized dose of civic education and participation this spring semester thanks to series of student “town halls” with local and state political and community leaders, hosted by the Elizabethtown Area High School Social Studies Department. The student “town halls” were specifically designed to highlight the upcoming 2016 Pennsylvania Primary Elections as well as give students an opportunity to see and interact with the individuals who represent the Elizabethtown community at the state and local levels of government. Zumba Gold            A toned-down version of Zumba! A fun aerobics-type class, part dance and part fitness, based primarily on Latin American & International style music. Geared to the deconditioned person/beginner exerciser and the active older adult. For those that may be hesitant to go “full-out” for whatever reason, Zumba Gold is the way to go! Judy McMillen is a licensed Zumba Gold Instructor. EASD’s Taurus Racing places first at national finals in F1 in Schools program

May 17, 2016- Taurus Racing from the Elizabethtown Area School District placed first at the F1 in Schools USA National Finals held at the Michigan International Speedway. By placing first, the team has qualified to compete at the F1 in Schools World Finals to be held in Texas in October. The competition was fierce at the national finals with sixteen teams from around the country and one team from Canada. 2016 Camp Ladybug  GEARS, in cooperation with the Elizabethtown Area Services for Special Needs, are proud to sponsor this year’s Camp Ladybug. Camp will run Monday-Friday, June 20-July 28 (excluding July 4) from 9 am to 12 noon at the Elizabethtown Area Community Park Pavilion #5. Camp is free to GEARS members ($20 NM). This program is a camp for individuals that may be mentally delayed and/or physically challenged of all ages. Bear Creek School 6th Graders To Participate In NASA’s ‘Cubes In Space’

May 12, 2016- Eighteen sixth graders from the Bear Creek School will be participating in NASA’s Cubes in Space 2016 program. Cubes in Space is a STEM-based (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) competition that encourages students ages 11-18 to submit experiments for launch into space. The students were selected from more than 250 experiments submitted world-wide from 22 countries. Cubes in Space 2016 selected experiments designed by students from Australia, Canada, South Africa, France, Germany, India, Mexico, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom, and the United States of America.
