Senior Center activities week of April 7

Area seniors are invited to participate in any of the following programs held at the Elizabethtown Area Senior Center.  The Senior Center is located in the GEARS Community Center, Elizabethtown and is open Monday through Friday.  Call the center for more information about the activities or to make reservations at 367-7984.  The Elizabethtown Area Senior Center is a service of  GEARS and the Lancaster County Office of Aging. Four E-town Students take part in First-Ever Cocalico Oratory

March 30, 2016- Four Bear Creek School students recently took part in the first-ever Cocalico Oratory Invitational held in mid-March. The event was a celebration of the spoken word and featured student speakers in grades 5-8 from districts across Lancaster and Lebanon counties. Students from Cocalico, Conestoga Valley, Eastern Lebanon County, Ephrata, Pequea Valley, and Warwick also participated in the program. Tori Bressler, Kacy Hartmann, Ellen Laszakovits, and Makenna Locke represented Elizabethtown. Talented student-musicians selected to prestigious orchestra ensemble

March 30, 2016- Elizabethtown Area School District orchestra students Stacie Savoca and Ethan Schnieder recently took part in the prestigious 2016 Pennsylvania Music Educators Association Central Region Orchestra Festival held at Bucknell University. Dr. Jeffery Tedford, professor of music at Grove City College, conducted the ensemble of about 100 talented high school musicians. Selection to the Central Region Orchestra is highly competitive involving talented student musicians from schools located in central Pennsylvania. A team of judges, comprised of local music teachers, selected the students to the prestigious ensemble based on their performance at the District 7 festival held in January.[Read more...]

Student Council to Hold Senior Citizens Ball – April 22

March 29, 2016- Elizabethtown Area High School’s Student Council invites senior citizens to put on their dancing shoes on Friday, Apr. 22 for the club’s annual Senior Citizen Ball. The dance will be held in the Brossman Ballroom on the Masonic Village campus (1 Masonic Drive, Elizabethtown, PA 17022) from 6-8 p.m. All senior citizens are welcome to attend free of charge (registration not required). The Senior Citizens Ball will include the roaring swing sounds from the high school’s jazz band under the direction of Steven Barraclough, great food, and the company of present-day students. EAHS Band to Perform Spring Concert

March 22, 2012- The Elizabethtown Area High School band will perform its annual spring concert on Thursday, April 14 at 7 p.m. The program will be held in the high school auditorium and is open to the public free of charge. Performing on this evening of music will be the high school’s jazz band and concert band. Horse of a different color at E-town’s Open Door Recital Children’s event celebrates14 years

Children and their parents are invited to the 14th Annual Open Door Recital at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 2, in the Elizabethtown College Zug Recital Hall. This year, the event features “a whole zoo of animals joining performers on the stage,” said Gene Ann Behrens, professor of music and director of music therapy at Elizabethtown College, who organizes the recital each year. “A lion, an elephant, a zebra, a dolphin, a grasshopper, a lobster, a swan and a bird” will keep the kiddos entertained. American Class Sprint 350 Hubs/Wheels for Sale (Campy)

Two used American Class Sprint 350 wheelsets for sale.  I am selling these as hub sets since the wheels cannot be trued perfectly.  The buyer has the option of just purchasing the hubs or the built wheels.  One is pretty fresh and the other a bit older.  I don’t have the exact mileage on these, but my best guess is 4,000 for the newer ones and not a clue for the older set.  They have both been in spills, resulting in imperfect rims.  The hubs are unaffected and in excellent condition. EASD qualifies two teams for F1-in-Schools national championship

March 15, 2016- Two teams of students from Elizabethtown Area School District recently qualified for the national F1-in-Schools competition to be held at Michigan International Speedway in May. Team Silver Bullets and Team Taurus placed second and fourth respectively. Team Taurus also took home the Innovative Thinking Award. Middle school technology education teacher Terry Bupp-Petersheim serves as the club advisor. Members of the Silver Bullets team were tenth graders Davis Barrett, Tristan Brown, Jacob Heffner, Trevor Koon, and Mehdi Zalal, as well as eighth graders Timothy McCorkle and Jacob Larison.
