Senior Center activities week of January 7

Area seniors are invited to participate in any of the following programs held at the Elizabethtown Area Senior Center.  The Senior Center is located in the GEARS Community Center, Elizabethtown and is open Monday through Friday.  Call the center for more information about the activities or to make reservations at 367-7984.   The Elizabethtown Area Senior Center is a service of GEARS and the Lancaster County Office of Aging. Borough police report charges

The Elizabethtown Police Department received a complaint regarding unlawful contact between an adult male and a juvenile female. Through investigation, police learned that Alexander Nielsen, 30, of Carlisle, Pa, had met the 13 year old victim online in 2014. The investigation determined that Nielsen communicated with the victim online and by cellular telephone. Nielsen arranged to meet with and transported the juvenile victim to the 100 block of Walnut Street in Carlisle, where he had sexual contact with the juvenile victim. As a result of this investigation, Alexander Nielsen, 30, of Carlisle, Pa, has been charged with Statutory Sexual Assault[Read more...]



GEARS News December 21

GEARS Recreational Basketball League             GEARS is accepting teams for the Winter 2016 Recreational Basketball League.  All games will be played at the Elizabethtown Brethren in Christ Church Gym (996 East High Street, Elizabethtown).  League play is on Sunday, & Tuesday evenings, January 12-March 15.  League is a 10-game schedule with divisional playoffs and championships. League fee is $325 per team. This league is for individuals 16 years and older.  Deadline is Wednesday, December 30. They were established at the end of World War II, with differing objectives. East High Street Elementary School Earns Reward School Status

December 15, 2015- Elizabethtown Area School District’s East High Street Elementary School has been honored by the United States Department of Education (USDE) as a “High Achievement Reward School” for student performance on the Pennsylvania System of School Assessment (PSSA). This prestigious designation is a result of East High Street Elementary being one of the highest 5% of Title I schools on aggregate math and reading on the PSSA. Power Yoga             Power Yoga focuses on strength, balance and flexibility while linking mind and body through breath. Sun salutations, standing and seated postures, balance poses & intense relaxation combined in one class that allows the beginner or advanced yoga student to enjoy an invigorating and fulfilling experience.
