Red Rose Council of the Blind, a chapter of the Pennsylvania Council of the Blind, will meet on Monday, June 8th from 4 to 6 PM at VisionCorps, 244 N. Queen St. in Lancaster. May 27, 2015- Bear Creek School sixth graders have been learning about ancient world history including the Egyptian, Greek, Roman and Persian empires. On Thursday, May 21, they brought their learning to life as part of the school’s Living History Museum. As part of the event, Tutankhamun, Attila the Hun, Leonidas, Moses, Socrates and many more notable historical figures of the ancient world graced the hallways of the Bear Creek School. May 20, 2015- Elizabethtown Area High School junior Stacie Savoca was accepted into the 2015 Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA) All-State Orchestra. The 150-member ensemble was comprised of the top high school orchestra students from across the Commonwealth. The all-state orchestra performed at the PMEA Music Festival held at the Hershey Theater earlier this spring. Steven Amundson from St. Olaf University directed this highly prestigious ensemble. Savoca was one of only six students from the Lancaster-Lebanon IU13 region to be named to the all-star ensemble. May 20, 2015- Under the direction of sixth grade teacher Erick Witteman, thirty-one sixth graders from the Bear Creek School recently took to the stage to bring the Shakespearean classic tragedy “Hamlet” to life for their parents, teachers and classmates. Using a modified version of the play, the students put on the production – complete with costumes, props and set scenery – twice for their invited guests. Each powerful performance lasted about 70 minutes. May 20, 2015- Elizabethtown Area High School senior Austin Moore placed third in the Criminal Justice category of the Lancaster County Career and Technical Center’s Skills USA State Competition. SkillsUSA is a national organization that not only prepares students for careers in trade, technical and skilled service occupations, but also holds yearly competitions showcasing students and their skills. Moore is the son of Danielle Moore of Elizabethtown.

You will also learn the sewing machine, fabric, cutting, straight stitching and even a zipper. Projects include a pin cushion, needle wallet, zippy pouch and a sewing machine cozy. May 18, 2015- Elizabethtown Area High School seniors Linden Taylor and Benjamin Good were named the Elizabethtown Rotary Club’s Students of Month for May. Taylor and Good were honored for their high academic achievement and extensive involvement in school and community service activities. Taylor, daughter of Kent Taylor and Susan Traverso of Elizabethtown, has excelled in the classroom having earned membership into the prestigious National Honor Society. Taylor is active with Model UN, the ski club and the Roots and Shots program. She is a four-year participant in Mini-THON and active in the intramural soccer program.
