Northwest EMS to hold health screenings, tour, and demonstrations

  NorthwestEMS will open its doors to visits by area residents on Wednesday, May 20, 3 to 5 p.m. at 380 W. Bainbridge St., Elizabethtown. EMTs will provide blood pressure screenings, emergency health-related information, CPR practice and a chance to see the equipment inside an ambulance. The open house coincides with National EMS Week, when emergency providers demonstrate the life-saving capabilities they bring to the community. Northwest EMS continues to emphasize the importance of citizens learning Hands-Only CPR, a potentially lifesaving technique involving no mouth-to-mouth contact. Music For Everyone to Present $85,535 in Grants During May 1st First Friday Event in Downtown Lancaster

Lancaster, PA – Music For Everyone, a Lancaster-based non-profit charitable organization that raises money for music programs for schools and community arts groups throughout the county, will present $85,535 to 51 different schools and community arts organizations at the May 1, 2015 First Friday event in downtown Lancaster.  The awards be presented at Binns Park in the 100 block of North Queen Street. E-town student named National Merit Scholarship finalist

April 24, 2014- Reuben Zeiset, a senior at Elizabethtown Area High School, has been named a finalist in the prestigious National Merit Scholarship program putting him one step closer to receiving a merit scholarship. Zeiset joins 15,000 other finalists from around the country in vying for a 2015 National Merit Scholarship. About 1.4 million high school students entered this year’s National Merit Program by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) in their junior year. April Students of the Month Named

April 24, 2015- Elizabethtown Area High School seniors Delany Winslow and Matthew Sauder were named the Elizabethtown Rotary Club’s Students of Month for April. Winslow and Sauder were honored for their high academic achievement and extensive involvement in school and community service activities. Winslow, daughter of Bart and Stacy Winslow of Elizabethtown, has excelled in the classroom earning the Woodmen of the World American History Award and the Freedom Foundation Leadership Conference Award. Record Five EAHS Students Take Part In Regional Orchestra Festival

April 23, 2015- Elizabethtown Area High School orchestra students Aaron Becker, Reuben Zeiset, Erin Marshall, Stacie Savoca and Ethan Schnieder were accepted into the prestigious PMEA Central Region State Orchestra based on successful auditions at the District level. The talented musicians from Elizabethtown joined the region’s top student-musicians at the Festival, which was held at Dallastown Area High School. Five students qualifying marked a new record for Elizabethtown for students participating at the Regional Festival. At the Festival, Becker (Violin I), Marshall (Violin I), Savoca (Clarinet), Schneider (Viola) and Zeiset (Viola) learned under the tutelage of acclaimed conductor Lawrence Golan.[Read more...]

EAMS ready to take to the stage for two one-act plays

April 20, 2015- A cast of 21 students and three crew members from Elizabethtown Area Middle School will present their annual spring play on Thursday, April 30 and Friday, May 1. Both performances will be held in the middle school auditorium beginning at 7 p.m. Adult tickets are $4 and children tickets are $2.
