EASD Marks Constitution Day with District-wide Programs from Local Attorneys

September 17, 2014- A student-led mock trial and school-wide signings of a poster-sized copy of the constitution highlighted Constitution Day in the Elizabethtown Area School District. Celebrated every year on Sept. 17, the commemoration honored America and the 39 delegates of the Constitutional Convention that signed the document on this date in 1787. As part of the celebration, students learned about the rights and responsibilities of being an American citizen set forth in the founding document.   “The Amish and Federal Hate Crimes,” at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 21,  Gibble Auditorium in Esbenshade Hall A group of bearded, plain-dressing men and their accomplices were convicted in federal court in 2012 on charges related to attacking and cutting the beards or hair of nine Amish people in Ohio a year earlier. SAT Prep Course Offered              This course is an essential step to help you reach your college admission goals.  The course is 10 hours of instruction by Beth Wagner who is a qualified, experienced and certified teacher.  It will familiarize students with the test directions, the types of questions and teach necessary skills for SAT success in math, reading and writing.  Instructor will work to lower testing anxiety and improve test-taking ability.  Class dates are Saturdays, October 25 & November 1 from 8 am-1 pm.  Fee for the class is $105 for GEARS members ($112 for non-members).  Fee includes The[Read more...]

Elizabethtown College Not Idle During Summer

Although on-site classes are not offered in the summer at Elizabethtown College and most students return home, the campus is not idle. This past summer, over 30 groups came to Elizabethtown College’s campus for an event, meeting, camp, or conference. Starting in May and ending in August, these groups are hosted on campus by Elizabethtown College’s Special Events and Summer Programs (SESP) team. SESP focuses on providing support for these groups by providing locations and services. There are various different event spaces and classrooms that are available during the summer. Elizabethtown Musician opens sencond season in Lancaster

In December 2013  Native American flute player David Rose, [Elizabethtown, PA] and classical guitarist Russell Ferrara from Lansdowne, PA had been performing together for about 6 months.  Both have had long, successful careers as soloists and in groups. Both had multiple recordings under their belts. They had produced a demonstration recording of their original music which won them invitations to perform in Atlanta, Georgia and on the prestigious stage of the World Flute Society convention in Eau Claire Wisconsin.
