E-town MiniTHON Inaugural 5K Costume Run Set For November 1

September 30, 2014- Elizabethtown Area High School’s student-run miniTHON committee will host its inaugural 5K costume run to benefit the Four Diamonds Fund at Penn State Children’s Hospital. The race will be held on Saturday, Nov. 1. Participants may choose to either walk or run in the 5K. Participants are reminded that the course is a cross country course, not a road course, and strollers and pets are not permitted on the course. EAHS Boys’ and Girls’ Soccer Teams to Hold Benefit Games

September 26, 2014- Elizabethtown Area High School’s boys’ and girls’ soccer teams are holding benefits for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS) and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Lancaster County (BBBS) respectively. The boys’ team has partnered with Manheim Central in the second annual Cancer Awareness Benefit Game. Leading up to the game, which is set for Oct. 3 at Manheim Central High School, the teams sold t-shirts with all the proceeds going to LLS.   September 25, 2014- Elizabethtown Area High School seniors Karlee Grudi and Muzahidul Islam were named the Elizabethtown Rotary Club’s students of month for September. Grudi and Islam were honored for their high academic achievement and extensive involvement in school and community service activities. Grudi is the daughter of Walt and Kelly Grudi of Elizabethtown. She is a member of the prestigious National Honor Society. She holds several leadership positions in the district including being class president, Key Club president and captain of the cross country team. September 25, 2014- Elizabethtown Area High School will hold its annual homecoming weekend on Oct. 3rd and 4th. All students, faculty, staff, alumni and residents of the greater-Elizabethtown community are invited to show their E-town pride by cheering on the Bears as they take on Lampeter-Strasburg High School in a Lancaster-Lebanon League Section 2 football showdown. Bowers Writers House features Baltimore filmmaker Steve Yeager

Steve Yeager, Baltimore native and right-hand man of filmmaker John Waters, has been a part of the East Coast film and theatre scene for more than 25 years. His 1998 film Divine Trash, which won the Filmmakers Trophy for Best Documentary at the Sundance Film Festival, documents the early career of Waters. Yeager visits Elizabethtown College’s Bowers Writers House at 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26, to discuss his career and what it was like to work with John Waters. He will read from his own work.
