Executive Lecture Series brings senior-level business officials to Elizabethtown College

Senior-level executives engage the audience in important discussions when they visit the Elizabethtown College campus as part of the M&M Mars Executive Lecture Series. The College’s Department of Business partners with Mars each year to bring executives to campus from various industries to talk about their business endeavors. This fall, the Executive Lecture Series is presented at 11 a.m. on select Fridays in the College’s M&M Mars Room, located in Leffler Chapel and Performance Center, or in Hoover 212, a large instruction room. Places of confinement subject of unsettling exhibit: Elizabethtown College’s Dr. Rita Shaw examines “Prison or Slave Castle?”

The exhibit is by appointment through the academic year, but the exhibit opening is open to the public at 5 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 4. The brochure accompanying the yearlong photo exhibit at Elizabethtown College invites the visitor to guess if the images presented depict a prison or a slave castle. There are 18 check boxes to test accuracy. The exhibit opens at 5 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 4, in the College’s Brossman Commons Conference Room 211 and continues, by appointment, throughout the academic year. Area seniors are invited to participate in any of the following programs held at the Elizabethtown Area Senior Center.  The Senior Center is located in the GEARS Community Center, Elizabethtown and is open Monday through Friday.  Call the center for more information about the activities or to make reservations at 367-7984. Inaugural School Spirit Bonfire Scheduled at EASD

August 26, 2014- Elizabethtown Area High School will hold its inaugural School Spirit Bonfire on Thursday, Aug. 28 at 8:30 p.m. The entire greater-Elizabethtown community is invited to attend. The bonfire will be held at the Elizabethtown Fairgrounds. Show your support for the district’s fall sports teams by attending this fun-filled event that will also feature the EAHS marching band.

Season Passes Now Available for Select EASD Sporting Events

August 26, 2014- Elizabethtown Area School District All-Season Athletic Passes are now on sale and can be purchased in the high school office. The pass works much like a season ticket and is a convenient and inexpensive alternative to buying a ticket at the gate. Pass holders will be able to attend all home in-season sporting events during the 2014-2015 school year at no additional cost. Instrumental Rental Night at EASD

August 26, 2014- Elizabethtown Area School District will hold its annual Elementary Instrumental Music Parent Night on Tuesday, Sept. 2, at 6:30 p.m. at the Bear Creek School. This special evening is for families with children in grades 4 through 6 who have an interest in signing up for the school’s band or orchestra program. Elizabethtown Police Make Arrest

Elizabethtown police made an arrest on August 25th for an incident taking place on June 5th.  On June 5, 2014, the Elizabethtown Police responded to a call on the 400-500 block of North Locust Street for a possible sexual  assault against a disabled female.  Upon investigation, it was learned that the disabled woman’s caretaker allegedly had indecent contact with the victim.  He allegedly exposed his genitals to her and had inappropriate contact with the victim. the victim is mentally and physically disabled.  Detective Clair Martin filed a charge of indecent assault of a person with a mental disability (associated with[Read more...]

Dance Classes Discover Dance – Class is designed to encourage younger children in a fun way to express themselves through several dance disciplines (ballet, jazz & creative movement). Dancers will develop body awareness, gross motor skills, rhythm and flexibility. Ages 3-5.
