Londonderry Township to Celebrate Independence Day with Fireworks, The New Holland Band & Parrotbeach

On Saturday, July 5, 2014 Londonderry Township will present the 6th Annual “Stars & Stripes Salute” at Sunset Park with the festivities getting underway at 7:00pm. Admission and parking is free.  Donations will be accepted that evening with 100% of the donations collected and proceeds from the concession stands going to support the Lebanon VA Hospital. Under the theme of “One Night. One Nation. Underkoffler, Schlosser, Hughes, Rae, Smith, Destafano, Knudsen, Trunzo place in gymnastics competitions

The Gymnastics Center of Hershey in Hershey, PA recently completed their 2013-2014 competitive season. Many gymnasts from Central Pennsylvania compete for the Hershey Aerials competitive team in USAG Levels 2-9 plus the USAG Xcel program.  Each Level from 3-9 and Xcel has a statewide competition for gymnasts who qualify to close the season.  Levels 8 and 9 also have a regional and national competition for those who qualify.  Gymnasts who earn medals at State, Regional, and National competitions compete according to age groups.  Baton Twirling Camp              Baton Twirling Camp is filled with twirlz and whirlz. Each day your child will learn beginner twirling skills, partner and group skills, marching techniques, basic leaps, jumps and turns used by twirlers everywhere. Camp is on Monday-Wednesday, July 21-23 from 9-10:30 am at the Elizabethtown Area Middle School Gym (600 East High  Street, Elizabethtown). Fee is $35 (additional $7 for nonmembers). Students stroll the catwalk to display writing skills

June 19, 2014- In the final days of school, sixth graders from the Bear Creek School strolled the catwalk as part of the schools 2014 Language Arts Fashion Show. The special program placed an emphasis on both writing and mathematics. First, the students wrote a fashion show script using vivid verbs and adjectives as well as sentence fluency and smooth transitions. Students then performed their scripts as models or announcers seeing how writing is used in the world outside of school. June 18, 2014- Attention Elizabethtown Area School District former students, the Class of 1981 is partnering with the school district to embark on an exciting endeavor, to form Elizabethtown Area School District Alumni Association. The Association is being created to provide a fun and dynamic organization that spearheads alumni activities and fosters relationships among graduates. Smith’s Auto Garage and Mill Road Elementary team up for a lesson in economics

June 16, 2014- Smith’s Service Center and Mill Road Elementary School recently teamed up to help third graders understand the importance of local businesses. The students visited the garage as a culminating activity for the Junior Achievement (JA) program. The students learned how the shop provides a service of safety to the community. After a short walk to the service center, the students were shown how the garage recycles tires, motor oil and metal parts. Bear Creek students become geologists for a day

June 17, 2014- In the final days of the school year, fifth graders at the Bear Creek School became geologists for the day by viewing a spectacular display of fluorescent rocks and minerals. The display was part a collection owned by Elizabethtown residents Brian LeGrand and Don Hubbell. The men began their talk by explaining the three types of rocks: igneous, metamorphic and sedimentary. The students also learned how rocks are classified using the Mohs Hardness Scale with one being the softest (talc) and ten being the hardest (diamond). Winter’s Heritage House Announces Historic Day Camp for Ages 7-12

 Winter’s Heritage House Museum will hold an historically-themed day camp 0n June 25 and 26 for children aged 7 through 12.  The camp will run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day.  The cost is $20 dollars per day.  Campers will learn how tradespeople made their living long ago and try their hand at practical crafts and period games.
