“The mission of the Holiday Card Project  is to gather Christmas greeting cards and distribute them to seriously ill people who have been featured on ShareaCard and are in active status (there has been an update within the last 6 months). It is well known that the holiday season is extremely depressing to the shut-in and the very ill. BEARS Youth Basketball Sign-up              GEARS will be accepting registration for girls and boys in grades 1-9 for the BEARS Youth Basketball Program.  Players will participate in practices and games from late-November through mid-February.  Participation levels are grades 1 & 2 (instructional), grades 3 & 4, grades 5 & 6 and grades 7-9.             Draft day for boys in grades 3-6 is Monday, November 18 from 7-8:15 pm. East High Street Elementary Takes a Stand Against Bullying

October 28, 2013- On Friday, Oct. 25, East High Street Elementary School students, faculty, and staff joined schools all across the nation in the Million Misfit Sock March. As the culminating activity to anti-bullying month, the initiative took a stand against bullying by promoting a positive school environment where differences are celebrated. The program was inspired by the classic children’s storybook The Misfit Sock, which teaches that differences are magical and to be appreciated. Elizabethtown Students Honored For ‘Doing The Right Thing’

October 28, 2013- Elizabethown Area School District students Kayla Eck and Madalyn Powers were recently recognized as the October Do the Right Thing award winners. The Do The Right Thing program recognizes students from the Elizabethtown Area School District who have distinguished themselves through their accomplishments, attitude, or outstanding efforts to foster a positive school environment. The program provides a way to recognize good deeds and reinforce exemplary behavior. Mill Road Students Jump for Joy, Holiday Cheer

October 24, 2013- Mill Road Elementary School recently held its fourteenth annual Jump for Joy celebration, a school-wide program that raised money for Mill Road families in need during the upcoming holiday season. As part of the event, the students, faculty, and staff of the school descended upon the playground with jump ropes in hand to exercise and have fun with their classmates for the worthy cause. Coordinated by physical education teacher Elaine Sernoffsky, the students did an assortment of stationary jumps and traditional jump roping on their way to raising $1,023.62.
