Senior Center Activities Week of July 4

 Girls Basketball Camp           Attention future Lady BEARS Basketball Players!  Camp is under the direction of Janelle Garber, Elizabethtown Varsity Girls Basketball Coach. This camp will focus on the fundamentals of the game.  Coaches will stress the basics of dribbling, shooting, passing, etc.  Come ready to learn and improve.  Wear sneakers and comfortable clothes.  Camp t-shirt included in fee.  For girls entering grades 3-8.  Camp is Monday-Friday, August 5-9 from 9 am-12 noon in the Elizabethtown Area High School Daubert Gymnasium (600 East High Street, Elizabethtown). PA State Grange Foundation Awards Two Scholarships to Cassidy Cheddar of Elizabethtown

Annually, the PA State Grange encourages its members to seek higher education by providing various scholarships and loans. This year, more than $7000.00 is being awarded.  The PA State Grange Foundation Scholarship was established by delegate action in 1966. Candidates must be Fourth Degree members in good standing and shall be entering their junior or senior year in college. The scholarship is a grant of $500.00. This year, Cassidy Cheddar, a Grange Youth member will receive a Foundation Scholarship.  The Leonard Rhone Scholarship Fund was initiated in memory of Leonard Rhone, third Master of the PA State Grange. From Chronicling Elizabethtown 6/22/13: Changes and improvements are coming to the intersection of College Avenue and Campus Road. Later this summer, or maybe in early fall, the borough will install a new stop sign at the intersection, along with crosswalks for pedestrians. This came about after discussions that borough Police Chief Jack Mentzer had with Mount Joy Township officials and representatives from Elizabethtown College (full disclosure: My wife is an employee of Elizabethtown College).     Another in the series of historical profiles by Pat and Lloyd Reed. These stories originally appeared in the Elizabethtown Chronicle.  Girls Middle School Volleyball Program  Free clinic for any girls in grades 7 & 8 who are interested in playing the GEARS Middle School Volleyball League. Elizabethtown High school Coaches and Players will conduct the clinic. This is an excellent opportunity to try a new sport or to get additional instruction if you have played before. Be sure to wear sneakers and come prepared to learn and have fun.
