10th annual Arts in the Park scheduled

From Chronicling Elizabethtown   Elizabethtown will host the 10th annual Arts in the Park from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 11, in Community Park. Admission is free and parking available, as well as juried arts, live music, kids’ art activities, face painting, free entertainment and delicious food. Original art work from regional artists will be available for purchase. Artwork will include painting, pottery, jewelry, photography, stained glass, clothing, multimedia art, printmaking, homemade purses and much more. EAMS to Present “Middle School Madness”

April 23, 2013- Elizabethtown Area Middle School will present the play, “Middle School Madness” on Thursday, May 2 and Friday, May 3 at 7 p.m. in the school’s auditorium. The light-hearted play is a compilation of stories, vignettes, and dance numbers about what it is like to be a middle school student. Kevin L. E-town girls get first-ever lacrosse win

April 17, 2013- Elizabethtown Area High School’s girls lacrosse team made history on Monday, Apr. 9 when they claimed the program’s first-ever game win as an official Elizabethtown Area School District sport. In its inaugural season, the girls defeated Northern York High School by a score of 10-7. To celebrate the victory, the boys lacrosse team, led by coach Jeremy Adams, formed a receiving line to congratulate the Lady Bears for the historic win. Area seniors are invited to participate in any of the following programs held at the Elizabethtown Area Senior Center.  The Senior Center is located in the GEARS Community Center, Elizabethtown and is open Monday through Friday.  Call the center for more information about the activities or to make reservations at 367-7984.   The Elizabethtown Area Senior Center is a service of GEARS and The Lancaster County Office of Aging. Downtown Parking Poll–Please Vote

As part of the downtown Elizabethtown community development efforts, the Elizabethtown Journal and Elizabethtown College are engaged in an analysis of public parking in downtown Elizabethtown.  As an adjunct to this effort, the Journal is conducting a simple poll inquiring about your downtown parking experience. EAHS students win big at local science fair

April 11, 2013— Fourteen Elizabethtown Area High School students competed in the North Museum Science Fair held in March. Eleventh grader Jenny Eurich took home one of the top honors when she was named senior champion for her Biochemistry project: Analysis of Ganglioside in Human Plasma. As senior champion, Eurich is being sponsored by the North Museum to compete in the International Science and Engineering Fair, which will be held in Phoenix, AZ in May Eight other students joined Eurich on the medal stand by claiming prizes in various categories. Borough Train Station Parking Announcement: Changes April 12

Construction on the train station overflow parking lot and other improvements at the Amtrak train station site are expected to begin tomorrow (4/12/13) with preliminary site preparation.  Please note that parking will be prohibited in the Borough’s stone lot at the end of Wilson Avenue during construction activities.  In addition, parking restrictions may be necessary for sections of Wilson Avenue and in the existing train station parking lot at certain times during the project to provide access to install sidewalks, curbing, an ADA ramp, crosswalks, motorcycle parking pads, and other improvements.  The construction project will be addressed in two phases. [Read more...]
