Senior Center Activities Week of February 7

Area seniors are invited to participate in any of the following programs held at the Elizabethtown Area Senior Center.  The Senior Center is located in the GEARS Community Center, Elizabethtown and is open Monday through Friday.  Call the center for more information about the activities or to make reservations at 367-7984.   The Elizabethtown Area Senior Center is a service of GEARS and The Lancaster County Office of Aging. Elizabethtown College Presents Ware Seminar February 26: Panelists to focus on impact of past, present and future factors on Afghan peace and productivity

The Judy S. ’68 and Paul W. Ware Colloquium on Peacemaking and Global Citizenship will sponsor the Ware Seminar on Afghanistan Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013 at 7 p.m. The event, to be held in the Susquehanna Room of Myer Hall, will feature CEO of Aid Afghanistan and women’s rights activist, Hassina Sherjan; Matt Southworth, legislative associate on foreign policy with the Friends Committee on National Legislation; Steve Simon from the International Institute for Strategic Studies-US; and Joyce Davis, president of the Harrisburg World Affairs Council. E-town high students to sign national letter of intent

January 31, 2012— On Wednesday, Feb. 6 at 3 p.m., EASD will hold a NCAA National Letter of Intention Signing Day celebration for several senior student-athletes. As part of the program, Rhiannan Arellano (soccer), Olivia Esbenshade (cross country/track), Tess Hayward (swimming), Tiffany Heisey (track), Taylor Mohr (soccer), Kiersten Olsen (field hockey), Derrick Orendorff (soccer), and Erin Sollenberger(soccer) will announce where they play their respective sport at the collegiate level. Addendum to How Much Does Your Health Insurance Cost

Last November, the Elizabethtown Journal published the commentary, “How Much Does Your Health Insurance Cost” In that essay, it was argued that most individuals who are enrolled in employee-sponsored health insurance plans do not have an accurate conception of the total cost of that insurance. It was further asserted that many confuse their contribution with the actual cost, therefore underestimating the plan’s true cost. It was also contended that, although the employee contribution is probably the most significant number for the employee, it is also critically important that an employee be aware of the plan’s total cost. GREASE is the Word at EAHS!

January 29, 2013- Elizabethtown Area High School will present the rock and roll musical, GREASE! Feb. 28 through Mar. 2, 2013, at 7 p.m. in the high school auditorium.  There is also a 1 p.m. matinee on Saturday, Mar. 2.  The show will kick off with a 1950’s rock-n-roll dance party on stage 30 minutes prior to the start of each performance.
