August 30, 2012— Bear Creek School celebrated the beginning of a new school year by holding a team-building day to help set a positive tone for a successful school year. August 30, 2012—Elizabethtown Area School District All-Season Athletic Passes are now on sale and can be purchased in the high school office or at the main ticket window the night of the first home football game (Sept. 7). The pass works much like a season ticket and is a convenient and inexpensive alternative to buying a ticket at the gate. Pass holders will be able to attend all home in-season sporting events during the 2012-2013 school year at no additional cost. On September 8 from 10 am-4pm, a Bainbridge block party will be held.  In addition to a community gathering, it is also a fundraiser for the Halterman family.  Nick Halterman was diagnosed with stage 3 lung cancer in 2011. Three different chemotherapies and 8-weeks  of radiation later, he is now at stage 4.  His doctor has said that trial medications could keep the cancer from spreading, but his medical insurance will not cover it.  Nick has not been able to work since his diagnosis. August 28, 2012— Elizabethtown Area High School cheerleaders Kalia Bennett, Becca Kirkessner, Abby Stump, and Brooke Zerphey have been named All-Americans based on their performance at the National Cheerleaders Association (NCA) camp at Bryn Mawr Lake in Honesdaly, PA. Kirkessner also won the top All-American medal for earning the highest score of all the named All-American winners. All-Americans are selected on superior cheerleading skills at camps across the country. As All-Americans, Bennett, Kirkessner, Stump, and Zerphey are eligible to participate in five national events in November and December including the 2012 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City.
