PTO to hold Chicken BBQ Bash

May 18, 2012— Mark your calendars now! The East High Street Elementary PTO will host a Chicken BBQ Bash on Sunday, June 3 from 3-6 p.m. at the Elizabethtown Fair Grounds. The PTO encourages you to stop by and enjoy a delicious chicken dinner meal and support a good cause! Take out or dine in available. Each meal includes a half chicken, baked potato, applesauce, dinner roll with butter, and a drink. Order your tickets now and save a dollar on each meal. Area seniors are invited to participate in any of the following programs held at the Elizabethtown Area Senior Center. The Senior Center is located in the GEARS Community Center, Elizabethtown and is open Monday through Friday. The Fifth Annual Kaleidoscope Award for the Visual Arts is presented to HANNAH MEIER, graduating Senior at Elizabethtown Area High School. CAITLIN WILSON was selected to receive the Second Annual Betty G. Long Kaleidoscope Award to a young woman exhibiting strong leadership skills and planning future study in music. Elizabethtown Area High School’s Key Club receives award from local charity

May 14, 2012— The Brittany’s Hope Foundation recently presented a certificate of appreciation to Elizabethtown Area High School’s Key Club for the club’s support of its annual Super Sale. Presenting the certificate was Nathaniel Abel, director of development for Brittany’s Hope. As part of the Super Sale, Key Club members helped to raise more than $5,549 for the local foundation by manning various stations and supporting event setup and cleanup. Key Club is a student-led organization affiliated and support by the Kiwanis Club of Elizabethtown that provides its student-members with opportunities to provide service, build character, and develop leadership. Kismet & Company Publishing and the Allen Theatre/MJ’s Coffeehouse will be hosting a book launch for George R. Appelt Jr.’s debut novel, Shepherd’s Fall, just in time for the summer beach-and-poolside-reading season. The event will be held on Sunday, June 10, 2012 from 2-5pm at the Allen Theatre/MJ’s Coffee House, 36 E. Bear Creek School Band Concert Slated for May 29

May 11, 2012— Bear Creek School will hold its first annual band concert on Tuesday, May 29 at 7 p.m. in the school’s all-purpose room. The concert is free and open to the public. This evening of music will feature bands from the fourth, fifth, and sixth grade levels. The fourth grade band will perform three pieces, one of which is entitled Fanfare and March, by Michael Sweeney. The Day 1 and Day 4 bands will perform four selections – two individual ensemble pieces as well as two combined pieces.
