Gym Bears and Gymnastics Classes              GEARS is offering the following tumbling and gymnastics programs for children: Gym Bears is available for girls and boys ages 3-6.  The program will help develop large and small motor skills in a fun learning environment while introducing the fundamentals of gymnastics.  There are two classes available on Thursdays from 10-10:45 am (Class A) and 5-5:45 pm (Class B).  Fee is $55 for GEARS members ($61 non-members). A discussion of the viability of Elizabethtown’s central business district appeared in the Elizabethtown Journal in July of 2010 (  Included in that discussion was an assessment of the current state of affairs, problems confronting development efforts, and some strategies for future development.  Since 2010, the Journal has not revisited this matter.  Although interest in downtown never departs from the public consciousness; it recently has received some renewed energy.  This, in part, is due to the formation of a new business group, Market Street! Sale of Industrial Park Building The 290,000-Sq.-Ft. Food, Old Trolley Line Park, and Prizes on Memorial Day

A community gathering will be held on Monday, Memorial Day, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Rails to Trail Bicycle Shop on the Hershey Road.  The bicycle shop is located near Beverly Road and borders the soon to be developed Old Trolley Line Park in Mount Joy Township.  Also participating is Elizabethtown Landscaping, located on the same block and also bordering the park.  Those who show up are eligible to submit a free raffle ticket.  Prizes will be given away by the two respective businesses.  Rails to Trail Bicycle Shop will raffle a Diamondback comfort/trail bicycle valued at[Read more...]

EAHS students win acting awards from the Hershey Theater

May 23, 2012—Elizabethtown Area High School’s spring production of 42nd landed two awards at the 2012 Hershey Theater Apollo Awards. The cast won for Outstanding Musical Number for We’re in the Money and the orchestra won for Outstanding Pit Orchestra. The awards were given for outstanding achievement by local high school students in their musical and play productions. In addition to the two awards won for 42nd Street, Lauren Hayden was nominated for Best Featured Actress for her role as Annie in the spring musical. Borough man faces arson, other charges

From Chronicling Elizabethtown, Monday May 21, 2012 Elizabethtown police charged a borough man with arson and other counts after he allegedly started a fire that destroyed a shed behind Christ Church United Church of Christ, 247 S. Market St., on May 11. Cory Nauman, 23, was charged with arson, a second degree felony, for starting the fire that caused $20,000 in damage and burned the shed to the ground. Commuter Services Extends Bike to Work Week Challenge Due to Rain

YORK, Pa. (May 18, 2012) – Commuter Services of Pennsylvania and local partners – Healthy Adams Bicycle/Pedestrian Inc. (HABPI), the Harrisburg Bicycle Club, WalkBikeBerks and the Lebanon Valley Bicycle Coalition – are extending the Bike to Work challenge to regional employers and commuters through the week of Monday, May 21 to Friday, May 25.
