Bear Creek School student musicians to perform orchestra concert on May 10

April 30, 2012— The Bear Creek School student orchestra will perform its annual spring concert on May 10 at 7 p.m. in the school’s multipurpose room. The concert is free and open to the public. Performing during the night of music will be the fourth, fifth, and sixth grade advanced orchestra ensembles, as well as the fourth through sixth grade beginning orchestra ensemble. The fourth through sixth grade beginning orchestra ensemble will play pieces by Robert Woods, including Evening Scenes. Area seniors are invited to participate in any of the following programs held at the Elizabethtown Area Senior Center. The Senior Center is located in the GEARS Community Center, Elizabethtown and is open Monday through Friday. E-town Middle School Team to Represent Pennsylvania at International Competition in May

The “Do or DI” team from Elizabethtown Area Middle School will represent Pennsylvania at the World “Destination Imagination” Competition in Knoxville, TN May 22-26. DI is designed to develop problem solving skills, teamwork, and creative thinking skills.  At the global finals, which will be held May 22 through May 26, Do or DI will compete against teams from 46 states and 24 foreign countries. At the state competition, the team built a structure made of only wood and glue to see how much weight it could hold. EAHS Students Earn Honors in Regional Art Contest

April 19, 2012— Six Elizabethtown Area High School students were recently honored for their work in the 2012 Lancaster County Young Artists competition. The competition was for local secondary school students and recognized the aspiring artists for their outstanding work. Award-winning students received gold, silver, or exhibition awards for their entries. Leading the way was tenth grader Jakia Nur, who won three awards – a gold, a silver, and an exhibition – all in the sculpture category. The Lancaster County LINK, the Link to Aging and Disability Resources, is hosting its monthly partners’ meeting and cross-training workshop on Thursday, April 26 at Red Rose Transit Authority, 45 Erick Road, Lancaster, PA. The monthly collaborative partners’ meeting begins at 1:00 pm. Prospective and current collaborative partners are invited to come for the meeting and the cross-training workshop to find out more about Lancaster County LINK and the collaborative partnership process. Winters Heritage House Museum Events

 Painted Leather Bracelets Class for Children ages 10-15  Winters Heritage House Museum is planning a fun-filled class for teens and pre-teens on designing, creating and dying leather bracelets.  Each participant will craft their own piece of jewelry from a single strip of leather. The class will be led by leather worker, Pat Kline, and will run from 10 am to 11:30 am on Saturday, April 28.  Registration for the class is $13 per child, and includes all materials.  Please contact the museum to register. Fine and Performing Arts spring program May 2 The Elizabethtown College Department of Fine and Performing Arts presents a spring program of music and drama, celebrating the arrival of spring and the end of the semester.
