BEARS Basketball Program BEARS Boys Basketball Clinic is for players who want to further their skills through drill work and games. Coaches will emphasize a fun atmosphere while building players skills and confidence on the court. Fundamentals of dribbling, passing and shooting will be the focus. Grades 4-6. Program is on Sundays, May 7-July 30 (excluding May 21 & 28) from 6-8 pm at the GEARS Community Center Gym (70 South Poplar Street, Elizabethtown).  Fee is $25 for GEARS members ($32 non-member). Bainbridge Elementary to hold community celebration

April 21, 2017- Bainbridge Elementary School will hold a Community Celebration on Wednesday, May 31 from 6-8 p.m. The program will honor and celebrate the 83-year history of the school ahead of the major renovation project set to begin in June that will transform the building into a 21st-century learning center. The commemoration is free and open to the community and will allow former and current students, faculty, administrators, staff, and the community-at-large to walk the school for a final time before the construction work begins. Elizabethtown Borough Announces 14th Annual Arts in the Park Event

Elizabethtown, PA – The 14th Annual Arts in the Park celebration will be held on Saturday, May 13, 2017 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.  The event will be held in Community Park in the heart of Elizabethtown. The event is held outside, rain or shine.  The popular children’s area will offer free activities for kids of all ages. Over 30 arts and craft vendors will participate and musical entertainment will be provided throughout the day. Bear Creek School Orchestra Concert Set For May 2

April 18, 2017- The Bear Creek School orchestra will perform a free concert on Tuesday, May 2 at 7 p.m. at the Bear Creek School. The concert will feature the beginning and advanced orchestras from the school. The beginning orchestra will play a variety of music including The Abandoned Funhouse by Brian Balmages. Other selections will be Cabbage Shoo, Rocky Mountain, and Hambone. Come and see what these students can do after only one school year of lessons. April 11, 2017- Ten students from Elizabethtown Area High School have met the requirements for induction into the National Technical Honor Society (NTHS). Local chapters of the NTHS celebrate career and technology center students for academic achievement and a commitment to learning. The NTHS’s mission is to recognize student achievement and leadership, promote educational excellence, and enhance career opportunities for career and technical students. SAT Prep Course Offered              This course is an essential step to help you reach your college admission goals.  The course is 10 hours of instruction by Beth Wagner who is a qualified, experienced and certified teacher.  It will familiarize students with the test directions, the types of questions and teach necessary skills for SAT success in math, reading and writing.  Instructor will work to lower testing anxiety and improve test-taking ability.  Fee includes The Official SAT Guide (2016 Edition). EAHS students win big at local science fair

April 6, 2017- Elizabethtown Area High School students recently competed in the North Museum Science and Engineering Fair. Senior Aparna Paul took home one of the top honors when she was named senior champion for her project that tested ways to detect E. coli bacteria. As senior champion, Paul will compete in the International Science and Engineering Fair, the world’s largest international pre-college science competition, May 14-19 in Los Angeles. Six other students from EAHS joined Paul on the medal stand by claiming prizes in various categories. Sertoma Club of Lancaster Will Host Largest U.S. Chicken Barbecue: May 20 event will support Long’s Park and community programs

LANCASTER (Apr. 3, 2017) – The Sertoma Club of Lancaster will host the nation’s largest chicken barbecue on Saturday, May 20, at Long’s Park in Lancaster. The barbecue, now in its 65th year, has raised $1.7 million for beautification, maintenance and construction at the park since the event began in 1953. Other beneficiaries of the barbecue’s 2017 proceeds will be Compass Mark’s Kids Kamp for children who live with substance abuse, hearing screenings for children enrolled in Head Start, and several more community programs.
