Steve Pavao and Ian Fitzgerald at Conewago Coffeehouse

Mar 29th, 2011 | By | Category: Events, Features

Like A.P. Carter, Steve Pavao is the patriarch of a family band: the Pavao Family Band, in fact. Steve’s songs share with those of the Carter Family the conveyance of simple but timeless messages told with little adornment. Unlike ol’ A.P. however, who did a great deal of song collecting, Steve’s repertoire consists primarily of original compositions. In addition, Steve has a penchant to ‘go solo’ from time to time, as he does on this tour and on his current single “My Beautiful Friend”. This song has been chosen to appear on the forthcoming compilation CD from The Starving Artist[Read more...]

Mar 8th, 2011 | By | Category: Events

Matt Miller operates My Idea of Fun:    The term “artistic collective” is often abused, but it fits the Johnstown, Pa.-based My Idea of Fun imprint quite well: Not exactly a label, not a publisher, the group is more a clearinghouse for like-minded artists. And with no executive or president, it just sort of flows.
